Mildura Base Public Hospital offers 24/7 help, information or referral via our Mental Health, Alcohol and Drugs Services triage.

Help for adults

We can provide information, support and specialist mental health services for adults aged 26-64 years.

Older People

Mildura Base Public Hospital can provide provide specialist mental health services for older people aged 65 + years.

About Our Sevices

Mental Health Services

Our Mental Health Service provides specialist public mental health services to the communities of the Northern Mallee region, across an area of 25,000 square kilometres.

Whilst most services are physically located in Mildura, our service provides outreach programs to the smaller outlying rural communities.

Our service offers both inpatient and community based care for those requiring mental health services.

Inpatient Unit

The Service’s Inpatient Unit (Ward 5) is utilised for consumers with an acute episode of mental illness, which may include a multi-day inpatient stay. This Unit provides voluntary and compulsory short-term inpatient management and treatment during an acute phase of mental illness.

Mental Health Triage Services (24/7)

Mental Health Triage is the process of initial engagement and assessment to determine a person’s need for mental health services and the nature and urgency of the required response. MBPH offers Mental Health Triage Services to clients across all age groups.

Community Based Mental Health Services

MBPH offer a range of Community Based Mental Health Services/programs and supports, including:

  • Child and Youth Mental Health Services
  • Adult Mental Health Services (including Acute Community Intervention and Continuing Care)
  • Aged Persons Mental Health Services
  • Consumer and Carer Consultants
  • Peer Support Workers
  • Perinatal Emotional Health Program
  • Headspace (12-25)
  • Families where a Parent has a Mental Illness (FaPMI) Program
  • Autism Spectrum Support and Evaluation Team (ASSET)

Prevention and Recovery Care (PARC)

PARC is a 10-bed community-based, short-term supported residential service for people experiencing mental ill-health and/or psychosocial difficulties.
